Made-up My Grind was started by owner LaTonya Taylor after she put together her own makeup kit following business and makeup classes. Growth was slow at first. Word of mouth and social media brought in most of its clients while she was still working in corporate roles.

Bookings are made online, and the studio works with one client at a time in a private space. Clients can expect full face makeup with lashes included, and the menu covers bridal makeup for the bride, bridesmaids and mothers, occasion and prom looks, and makeup for on-site weddings where the whole bridal party is done. Brides can add a wedding consultation with a preview trial of their look, and the Pamper Me package pairs the bride's makeup with an engagement shoot and a shower or bachelorette look.

Beyond makeup services, the studio teaches. One-on-one lessons cover full application from start to finish, a refresher option is available for clients who have taken a lesson before, and group classes are offered with group rates on request. Shopping sessions help clients choose foundation and tools, and product consultations can be held by video call.

The studio also sells its own cosmetics, which the site says launched as an extension of its beauty services. The range includes a long-wear matte lipstick, brow pomade, liners, shadows, lip toppers, gloss and lip oil.

Each booking is handled one client at a time, using lash adhesive and locking techniques to help makeup stay in place. Clients may bring their own makeup, and if the artist feels a product will not suit, alternatives are shown at no change in price.
