Founded in 1999 by Beth Abroms, Fiddleheads Salon takes its name from a family trip to Montreal, where the founder noticed fiddleheads, the curled tips of young ferns, on a menu. The salon sits on 17th Street just off Dupont Circle.

The salon's approach centers on personalization and wearability. Cuts and color are designed around each client's natural texture, with the aim of hair that moves freely and suits the person wearing it.

Visits are booked by phone or text at (202) 805-0520, with text preferred. The salon is open Tuesday to Friday from 9AM to 6PM and Saturday from 10AM to 5PM, and it is closed Sunday and Monday. Clients can sit under overhead diffusers after a color return visit. Cancellations made at least 24 hours ahead are fully refundable, and later cancellations are not; they must be made by call or text rather than email. Guests more than 15 minutes late may have their service adjusted or rescheduled. Products and completed services are not refundable, and gift card purchases are non-refundable. Children up to 12 are welcome for curly cuts.

Four-visit packages are valid for 12 months. A curly cut with cleanse is $528 with 20% off, a curly cut with cleanse and diffusing is $672, and a curly cut with single step color is $780. A curly cut with traditional highlights and diffusing is $1,260, with the fourth service free. The Pintura 4-pak is $1,344 and gives 20% off four Pintura diffusing services. A curly cut with Pintura is $1,500, with the fourth service free.
