Jen started her career and training in Chicago in the late 1990s. She moved to San Diego in 2003 and began working at a salon in Encinitas, where she led an education program for new stylists. Jen started her career and training in Chicago in the late 1990s. She moved to San Diego in 2003 and began working at a salon in Encinitas, where she led an education program for new stylists. In 2009 she opened her own salon, built a team, and went on to mentor hundreds of new and experienced stylists.

In 2021 she decided to sell that salon. In 2022 she began working from a private suite under the AMARETTO suite co. name, where each visit is with one guest at a time.

A visit starts with a new client form, which is reviewed before anything is booked so the stylist can plan the client's hair goals, first session and logistics. Services are built as personalized hair rituals around those goals, and the salon describes the experience as spa-like.

The studio is open Monday through Friday, 9:30am to 4:00pm. Reservations are required, and the online waitlist is available for clients who want an appointment when nothing is open.

Focuses on clean, natural-looking beauty that softens the look of age, with one guest at a time and a plan built around each client's hair goals.
