The Curl Suite is a full service salon that works on all curl types, from wavy to coily. The salon describes itself as a safe haven for curly hair. The Long Island and Staten Island locations operate as The Curl Suite By Alex, and the business also has a salon in New York City at 124 West 24th Street.

The salon was built around its owner, Alex, a curl expert who is also described as a curl educator. Early on, Alex worked alongside Ouidad, became one of its head educators and took part in product development. In 2012 Alex opened Alex Anthony Salon, and a year later launched the Alex Anthony Curl System, which the salon says has reached more than 200 salons. The product line was relaunched under The Curl Suite name in 2019, and the salon says its signature styling technique went viral.

New clients book the New Client Haircut option, while haircuts with Alex and with Belinda are reserved for returning clients. Several color services end with a curly style finish, and the salon does not work on extensions or wigs. Glen Head is open Monday 10 am to 3 pm, Tuesday to Friday 10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 9 am to 4 pm, and is closed Sunday. The Staten Island room is open Monday 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday 9 am to 4 pm. The Curl Suite sells its own hair care line in salons across the United States and online, including cleansers, conditioners, leave-ins, styling products, travel sizes and accessories. Kits for wavy, curly and coily hair are sold alongside seasonal and travel sets. The online store also sells gift cards. Taxes, discounts and shipping are calculated at checkout. The salon recommends cleansing and conditioning hair two to three times a week.

Stylists are trained specifically to cut curly hair, on the view that curls should not be handled like straight hair.
