Sola Salons operates a salon suite location in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Rather than offering services itself, it rents private studios to independent beauty and wellness professionals who run their own businesses from them.
Each studio comes fully furnished with built-in cabinetry, a shampoo bowl and styling chairs, and has its own private door with an individual lock and key. Full-spectrum lighting, ventilation and sound-insulated walls are included, and shared spaces include 24/7 security, on-site laundry, instant hot water, janitorial service, a breakroom and bathrooms. Studio access is 24/7, though hours vary by location.
Tenants pay one weekly fee that covers all utilities and Wi-Fi. They set their own service and product prices, choose the brands they sell and keep all of the profits. The company says its wider community includes more than 20,000 independent business owners. This Bushwick location is one franchise location, and each Sola Salon Studios location is independently owned and operated.
The model is built around independent professionals who run their own businesses, set their own prices and choose their own products.
