Sola Salons

Sola Salons is a suite-rental business rather than a salon with staff. Each tenant is an independent beauty professional or business that leases a private suite, sets its own prices and hours, and keeps its own profits. The company says its community includes more than 20,000 independent business owners.

The Flatiron location, at 50 West 17th Street, is described as a place where beauty entrepreneurs run their own private suites. The 5th floor has 25 private studios, 12 of them with windows, and most studios, apart from those in the spa area, take in natural light through large double glass sliding doors. The 5th and 12th floors both have private rooftop access.

Each suite comes with a styling chair, a shampoo bowl, full-spectrum lighting, instant hot water and ventilation, along with sound-insulated walls and a glass door with its own lock and key. A single weekly fee covers utilities, bathroom facilities, Wi-Fi and on-site laundry. Tenants have exclusive use of their own supplies and equipment and may decorate the suite with their own artwork, music, furniture and decor.

Shared spaces at the Flatiron building include four banquette seating areas where clients can relax or work, a café for beauty professionals, and a spacious breakroom. The building has 24/7 security. Suite access hours vary by location.

Each Sola Salon Studios location is independently owned and operated, and each professional or business in a suite is independently owned and operated as well. Sola Salons states that it is not responsible for employment or personnel matters of franchise owners or independent professionals.

Sola Salons offers independent professionals a private space to run their own businesses, with tenants setting their own prices, product choices and working hours.

The Flatiron building has a bright, open feel, with naturally lit studios, rooftop access and seating areas for clients.
