Shear Serenity opened in 2013 and is owned and run by its founder, Michelle Gerber, who began her career in Medford more than 30 years ago. The salon describes itself as a premier destination for beauty and wellness services and says its team is award-winning.

About

Hair services cover cuts and blow-dry styling, full and partial highlights, balayage, ombre, root touch-ups, vivid color, gray blending and color correction. Barbering for men includes haircuts, razor cuts, beard and mustache trims, line designs and color. The head spa menu uses the Biolage Professional Hair Spa line, and skin care covers custom and express facials, microdermabrasion, dermaplaning and acne-focused series. Waxing, makeup, keratin treatments, perms, hair extensions and updos are also on the menu.

Walk-ins are welcome, and the salon offers free parking, disabled access, a snack bar, WiFi and a kid-friendly setting. Head spa visits take place in a suite with blackout curtains that can serve two people at a time, and each visit includes a scalp reading before and after. Clients receive an intake form by text or email 24 hours before a head spa appointment. Initial color, cut and highlight consultations are complimentary and run 15 to 30 minutes.

Sippin Serenity, a sister company, runs a beverage bar beside the front desk serving espresso drinks, coffee, tea, lemonades and matcha.

The salon aims for a tranquil visit that leaves clients feeling refreshed, beautiful and confident, with personalized care throughout.
