Sanctuary Salon & Head Spa was established in 2014 and works out of a historic bungalow a few minutes from the lake. About

Every guest is matched with one stylist and keeps that same stylist, with a lead stylist and co-stylists working on the hair together. New guests begin with an online stylist match questionnaire. Guests booking online can see any stylist other than the owner, while the owner, Bettina Howard, takes bookings only by phone. Several services start with a consultation: new guests are asked to add one, every set of extensions begins with a consultation and color match, and color correction requires an in-person consultation to confirm timeline and quote. Prices are starting rates, and final pricing is confirmed by the stylist or at consultation.

The head spa has its own suite, apart from the main salon floor. Visits may include a shampoo bowl set up with a ceiling light projection, a weighted blanket, an eye mask and a lavender pillow, plus floral blossom teas, Italian espresso and flavored ice cubes. Head spa rituals usually last between 45 minutes and a little over an hour, and typically cover a scalp analysis, cleansing, massage and steam, with a treatment mask depending on the service. A blow-dry is not part of the ritual but can be added for an additional charge. A Japanese head spa with salt therapy is also available, in a room with illuminated salt walls.

Hours run Monday through Saturday, with Wednesdays and Sundays closed. Before booking, clients are asked to review the cancellation policies on the website or in the Instagram story highlights. Color pricing does not include a SalonScale product charge, which is weighed by the gram at the end of the appointment. Bridal and event hair and makeup can be done in-house or on location, and bridal travel pricing covers the team going to a venue on the wedding day.
