Sage x Mane Studio is a private studio where the stylist works with one client at a time. It is in Studio 5 of the Sola Salons building, just off the P Street exit of Interstate 80. The room is filled with art and has a moody feel, with lo-fi or chill jazz playing in the background.
Sharaya Peña owns the studio and works as a stylist, offering cuts, color and hair extensions. Clients meet the team in person for a consultation before any new extension set goes in. Each first install comes with a take-home kit: a brush suited to extensions, a silk pillowcase, a claw clip, and small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. Move-up and tightening visits are booked roughly every six to ten weeks. According to the studio, extensions can last a year or more when the recommended care routine is followed.
Permanent dark color is used on purpose, while demi color and toners are preferred where possible for a softer grow-out. Grey can be handled with grey blending, soft camouflage toners, hairline root touch-ups or full root coverage, depending on how much upkeep the client wants. The studio advises against pairing permanent grey coverage with heavy long-term highlights, because of breakage and uneven results. Bleach is not used on hair that has been treated with henna within the past year.
Appointments must be held with a credit card. Pricing is gratuity-free, so listed prices are what is due at the appointment with no extra fees. Cancellations or reschedules should be made at least 24 hours ahead. Missed appointments or late cancellations carry a fee of 50% of the booked services, and a no-show is charged the full booked service. Each client receives one grace appointment per year for last-minute changes. New color clients complete an online color consultation before their visit, and a waitlist is joined by booking an appointment first. All communication is by email or text.
The studio prioritizes long-term hair health and dimension, using gentler color methods and cutting hair dry to show its natural texture, density and movement.

Hand-tied extension installs and move-ups, with an in-person consultation required before a new install. Move-ups are $200 to $300 for one row, $300 to $450 for two rows, and $450 to $550 for three rows. Installs are listed at $1,500 for one row, $2,000 for two rows and $2,500 for three rows, and new installs require a non-refundable deposit that is applied to the total. Custom coloring of extensions is priced separately.
