Rendezvous Hair Salon

Rendezvous Hair Salon has been operating since 2005 at the corner of Summit and Hudson Streets in the University District. Its services span custom haircuts and color, gender affirming haircuts and hair care from all of its stylists, tape-in extensions, Brazilian Blowouts, hair lamination, Gel X and Luminary manicures, and facial waxing.

The salon describes itself as a safer space and a judgment-free place for guests and team. It says its values include transparency with guests, integrity in people and work, teamwork and responsibility, and it lists fun in the salon among them. It states that it does not tolerate racism, hate speech or discrimination, and that it aims to serve the LGBTQIA+ community. The salon says it puts as much weight on how a haircut makes a client feel as on the hair itself. It describes itself as nominated and consistently ranked top 10 in Columbus, and says it won the Pantene X Dress Code Project Inclusivity Award in 2020.

Color appointments, color consultations, Brazilian Blowouts and extensions are booked by phone at 614-447-2600. New color clients need a free consultation first, and a non-refundable deposit of $50 to $100, depending on service length, holds the appointment and is applied to the service. Color is typically refreshed every four to six weeks, and the salon can mix a color-refreshing conditioner for clients to take home. Haircut and color adjustments are offered for calls within 7 days of the original service, though this does not cover color corrections, which often take several sessions when going from dark or box color to blonde. Fantasy colors last between 3 and 6 shampoos and need specific aftercare, and the salon does not guarantee fantasy color results after clients leave. Stylists have autonomy over their projects. The salon is commission based and provides yearly group outings and in-salon education for its stylists.

Cancellations made 48 hours or more ahead are free and can be rescheduled. Cancellations within 24 to 48 hours are charged 50% of the service cost, and no-shows or same-day cancellations are billed the full scheduled cost. A valid card must be kept on file at booking, and a $25 fee applies to a no-show consultation. Clients should come alone and leave the premises during their service. Minor children must be supervised at all times and stay home unless they are receiving a service. Children are priced by hair length, as adults are. Late arrivals may have services shortened or rescheduled. Only approved service dogs are permitted in the salon, in line with Ohio State Board of Cosmetology rules. The salon may refuse service to clients who treat staff disrespectfully. Shadowing is offered to current cosmetology students.

Street parking is available on Summit Street and nearby streets, subject to posted signs, and guests are asked not to park behind Used Kids Record Store. A lot behind the salon is shared with Evolved Body Art and has one handicap spot. Guests needing a close spot or drop-off can request morning appointments. The front entrance has two steps. The back entrance is wheelchair accessible by the sidewalk behind Evolved Body Art, but its door does not open from outside, so guests needing it should call 614-447-2600 ahead so staff can open it.
