Opal Studio was founded in November 2022 by Natalie Whalen, who worked for about ten years in a busy salon before opening her own space. The studio is in suite 204 at My Salon Suites in the Clawson Shopping Center, at 14 Mile and Crooks.

To find the studio, enter through the outside doors into the lobby, type 204 on the intercom and press the green bell. Appointments are booked through the studio's online booking page. If no suitable time appears there, clients can contact the studio directly, since some openings are not shown online. Posted hours may shift with the owner's schedule; the studio is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays.

Services cover color, cutting, styling, extension consultations and treatments. Color ranges from glosses and root touch-ups to balayage, highlights and lowlights, bleach-based blonding without foils, and hourly creative color. Many color services can be paired with a gloss, a haircut or both.

Payment is accepted in cash, by Venmo and with all major credit cards. Appointments canceled within 12 hours of the start time carry a 50% fee. Payment for extension hair, including shipping, is due before ordering or scheduling the installation. Japanese head spa scalp treatments cannot be booked on the same day as a chemical service.

Private, one-on-one appointments where each visit is handled from beginning to end, whether a simple trim or a complete change.
