Each cut and color is shaped for the individual client. Stylists draw on vintage references, editorial fashion and current street style, and haircuts are designed to work with each client's natural texture. Color is offered in all shades, in both high-maintenance and low-maintenance versions. The stylists have years of experience in Chicago salons, some for decades, and keep up their education in hairdressing. Oko is also part of the R+Co Edu community.

A visit starts with booking online, by phone or by text. Consultations are preferred for vivid, fashion and corrective color, and color clients are asked to arrive with clean, dry hair. Every color service includes a blowdry. Services are not gender specific, and prices are set according to each stylist's expertise. Stylists recommend booking ahead, and lead times vary by stylist. Oko runs a hair model program, with a form on the site for people who want to model.

Products are chosen for high performance and ingredient quality. The salon carries R+Co and Cult + King, and Oko General Store sells hair and non-hair products the team likes, which can be shopped online. Gift cards are available on the website.

Shapes and colors are tailored to each client, drawing on vintage, editorial and street style references, with cuts designed around natural texture.
