Nail Studio by Cristina Luca is a nail salon and academy in the River North area of Chicago, pairing salon appointments with hands-on training in Russian manicure technique.

Founder Cristina Luca has worked in the nail industry for nine years, beginning as a nail technician before opening her own studio. She is also a co-founder of Re/Vibe beauty in downtown Chicago, continues her own learning by taking classes from well-known nail instructors, and teaches and mentors people who want to become nail artists.

Several services follow set methods. Pedicures are done on dry feet without soaking, and disposable files are used for shaping and heels in gel polish pedicures. Nail extensions are built on paper forms using hard gel or polygel.

The studio's classes are a large part of what it offers. A three-day beginner Russian manicure course covers e-file and scissors technique, gel application, acrygel repair, French manicure, sanitation and setting up a nail workplace. It is priced at $1,500 per person for groups of three to four students, with sessions from 10:00am to 6:00pm each day, and all tools and equipment are provided. A one-day advanced class is open to professionals with at least six months of Russian manicure experience, is limited to two students, and costs $1,000 per person; models and all required tools are provided. One-on-one Russian manicure classes can be arranged by request for one to two days at $1,200 per day. Class inquiries are made by email to nailstudiochicago@gmail.com.
