Amour Salon

Amour Salon Suites operates at 648 E 43rd Street in Bronzeville and has been open since 1998, when owner Sherry Spellers opened it. The salon offers haircuts, locs, natural hair services, sew-ins and braiding, and the salon describes its mission as providing quality service that refreshes how clients look and builds their confidence.

The salon was recently remodeled with a modern look and natural elements throughout. Private suites are rented to licensed hairstylists, and suites can also be rented for events.

A second location at 650 E 43rd Street is home to The Barber Suite, which offers haircuts, beard, skin and scalp services for all ages. The salon also runs Love Village, a program that shows young girls they can earn income through their own hands-on work. Participants receive hair products, beauty items such as lip gloss and nail polish, and creative tools directly, and the program plans to add customized tee shirts and jackets.
