The salon began as Marchelle Coiffeurs, founded by Susan and George. Their daughter, Michelle Casey, took over the salon when her parents decided to retire, after about two decades working in high-tech and medical education. Under her ownership the space was renovated in a modern style and the Aveda product line was introduced. The salon now trades as Marchelle Salone.

A visit starts with a personalized consultation for every hair service, followed by a shampoo and conditioning treatment. Clients are offered complimentary coffee, tea and water. The salon asks clients to arrive 10 minutes before their appointment. If someone is running late they should call, and arriving more than 10 minutes late may mean the service is modified or the appointment is rescheduled. Changes and cancellations need at least 24 hours' notice, or 48 hours for appointments longer than 2 hours. A credit card is required at booking and may be charged up to the full service cost for late cancellations, late changes, late arrivals or no-shows. Clients who miss an appointment without notice must pay for it before booking again.

Services are grouped into Cut & Style, Color, Treatments, and Waxing & Makeup. Cut & Style work is offered to women and men, and color services use Aveda Hair Color. Botanical Therapy is the salon's Aveda approach to keeping hair and scalp in balance, combining massage-style touch with aromatherapeutic essential oils. Corrective color is priced after a consultation, and a private room for hair services is available on request if mentioned at booking.

The salon accepts cash and checks, which it prefers, along with Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express. Tips can be given in cash, by check, through Venmo or the Tippy app, but cannot be added to credit card payments. Refunds are not given for services; the salon offers complimentary adjustments within 7 days after a service if the recommended aftercare is followed. Concerns about a service can be raised within 48 hours and the salon will address them. Hours are Tuesday and Wednesday 9 am to 6 pm, Thursday 9 am to 7 pm, Friday 9 am to 6 pm, and Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 4 pm, with Monday closed. Hours may vary.
