LDM Hair sits at 8490 Santa Monica Blvd, between La Cienega and Robertson, a short drive from Beverly Hills, Hollywood and the Sunset Strip. The salon calls itself a celebrity hairstylist's private salon. Its owner, Larry Dean McDaniel, started hairdressing at 18 in Huntington Beach, and the salon says its hair work uses the same cutting, color and styling technique seen on music videos, film sets, tours and red carpets. Because it is a single chair, each client is attended without an assistant and without double booking.

Hair services cover haircuts, color including balayage, highlights and platinum blonding, keratin and anti-frizz smoothing treatments, extensions, hairpieces and event styling. Haircuts and color include a blow-dry, and blow-dry only, blow-dry with iron and formal styling or updos are also offered. Color correction for box color, banding or work done elsewhere begins with a consultation and usually takes more than one session. The Red Carpet service reserves the full salon for three hours before an event for hair, wardrobe and makeup preparation, though makeup and wardrobe services themselves are not included.

Skin services are led by esthetician Christopher David. Every treatment starts with a skin consultation, included in the price, that covers skin analysis and a home care plan. Options run from a 30-minute LED or oxygen facial to a 70-minute acne facial, and include a Signature Facial, a HydraFacial, a Fresh Glow peel facial and an anti-aging program that can be built into a series. Lymphatic drainage facials are priced case by case and can be booked alone or added on. Oxygen therapy or a custom Hydrojelly mask can be added to any treatment.

The salon also travels. On-location styling starts at $500 and covers blowouts, event styling, color touch-ups and cuts at a home, hotel or set anywhere in Los Angeles. Wedding packages start at $2,500 and include a bridal trial at the West Hollywood salon and day-of styling on location. Bridal parties, mothers and attendants are quoted by headcount, and travel outside Los Angeles County is quoted separately. Peak-season wedding dates book six to twelve months out.

The salon is open Tuesday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, and closed Sunday and Monday. Clients book online through Square Appointments or by calling or texting, and same-day openings are sometimes offered by text. Extensions, hairpieces, wigs, weddings and on-location appointments require a consultation first. Street parking is metered on Santa Monica Boulevard and side streets, with public lots nearby.

Skin care begins with a consultation and a home care plan, and the salon describes its clinical skincare as results-driven rather than a spa-style menu.
