About
Larry Dean McDaniel is a celebrity hairstylist and owns LDM Hair. He began hairdressing at 18 in Huntington Beach, Orange County. Makeup artist Sharon Gault noticed him assisting with hair at a fashion show and brought him on as an assistant at David LaChapelle Photo Studio. There he trained in French technique and cutting under master hairdressers Clyde Haygood and Laurent Philippon, and he also trained in Sassoon precision cutting. With more than two decades in the industry, his work spans music videos, commercials, film and television, editorial and advertising campaigns, world tours and red carpet events. Among the people he has styled are Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Pamela Anderson, Paris Jackson, Courtney Love, Paula Abdul, Lizzo, Fifth Harmony, Daphne Guinness, and dancers from Michael Jackson's This Is It tour. He is best known for cutting curly and textured hair, often when dry, to shape the curl pattern, and for bridal styles, from soft waves and sleek Old Hollywood finishes to updos, chignons, braids, half-up looks and ponytails with added length. The Make-Up Artists and Hair Stylists Guild honored him in 2025 for hair styling on commercials and music videos, including the video 'Time' by Daphne Guinness, directed by David LaChapelle. He does every service himself and travels for on-location work, on-set styling, hotel preparation and weddings across Los Angeles.
