Blackbird Salon

Blackbird Salon was founded in 2020 by Justine Carlisle and Devin Cook and is located in Southeast Washington, D.C. The salon describes itself as a space for free expression that also offers luxury services, and it describes its stylists as creative, talented and educated.

Color has the widest range of prices on the menu, from a tonal refresh up to a comprehensive color service. Lived-in blonding and color corrections are named specialties, and texturized cuts, curly haircuts, keratin treatments, extensions and event styling round out the offerings. Color appointments can run four hours or more and haircuts an hour or more, so clients should plan for a long visit. Listed prices are general estimates that vary with stylist experience and demand. A complimentary consultation can be booked beforehand to confirm pricing and expectations.

Booking requires a credit card on file. Appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 48 hours ahead without a fee. Cancelling or not showing up within 48 hours incurs a fee of half the total service, charged to the card on file. Clients have a 10-minute grace period, after which a stylist may reschedule or decline service. Services performed are not refunded, but the salon will work to correct any issue raised within two weeks. Booking confirmations list any forms to complete before the visit.

WiFi is available, and devices should be kept silent or used with headphones. Video calls are not taken during appointments. A small selection of complimentary beverages and snacks is offered. Children and pets are not permitted, though children's haircuts are offered in limited numbers by scheduled appointment.
