Bigwig Collective

Bigwig Collective is an independent collective of hairdressers in an open concept salon on Indianola Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. The stylists came together after 2020, when they stepped away from commission-based and top-down salon models to work on their own terms.

The collective values quality over quantity and does not chase a busy, hustle-driven schedule. It looks for self-motivated stylists who are comfortable working with full autonomy and who understand how their work shapes the collective as a whole. Each stylist's strengths and experience are valued, there is no micromanaging, and the team is encouraged to keep building their skills and learning about the industry.

There are no set salon hours; time in the salon follows scheduled appointments, and each stylist sets their own menu, pricing and hours. Clients can book with the first available stylist or join a wait-list for cancellations. The waiting area offers drinks and snacks, and free on-street parking is available nearby. The salon describes itself as judgement free and says it works to keep the space cozy and comfortable for every client.
