a.k.b. Designs is a hair salon in Austin, founded by stylist a.k.b., who works with both men and women. The salon aims to know each client's hair as well as it knows the client, so a new client's first step is a visit to schedule, followed by a hair and personality assessment.

Services fall into four groups: specialty work for curly hair, color and highlights, haircuts and beard trims for men, and haircuts and styling for women. Appointments can be booked online, and clients receive a reminder by text, email or both before the visit. The salon is open 10am to 7pm Monday through Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays, and is closed on Sundays.

Each visit starts with getting to know the client and their hair before any service is chosen.
