Dr. Velasquez, MD

Dr. Velasquez, MD, is a dermatologist at AVIVA Dermatology in Houston, where she practices general, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She aims to provide approachable, relatable skin care to Houston's Hispanic community and is fluent in Spanish. Her medical path moved through several specialties. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas-Pan American, then earned her medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine on a full academic scholarship through the UTPA/BCM Premedical Honors College. She first trained in internal medicine as an intern at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, then in anesthesiology at Baylor. She switched to dermatology during the last year of anesthesiology training and completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia before returning to Houston. Her training covers more than 3,000 conditions affecting skin, hair, nails and mucous membranes.
