Dr. Tara G. Almquist

Dr. Tara G. Almquist founded GenWell Integrative Acupuncture in Somers and works there as an acupuncturist. Acupuncture is her second career, preceded by a first career in corporate culture. Her studies began in 2008 at Pacific College of Health and Science. She holds the L.Ac. and DAIM credentials. Her training covers contemporary medical acupuncture at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, under Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco MD, plus a doctoral degree in integrative medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Much of her clinical focus lies with the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, covering chronic and acute pain, nerve pain, neuropathies, headaches and migraines. She also addresses broader whole-person concerns including stress, sleep, digestion, hormonal health, GI problems, menopausal symptoms, alopecia, depression and anxiety. She believes acupuncture should be open to everyone.
