About

Dr. Michael Heim founded Heim Regenerative Medicine Center and practices there as a physician. He earned an undergraduate degree in nutrition and exercise science from Florida State University in 1992. He later served as Director of Health Center America at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Florida, and taught for the American College of Sports Medicine, developing health and fitness certification courses, giving lectures and administering certification exams. He started medical school at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale in 1998, then completed a family medicine internship and residency at Suncoast Hospital in Largo. He became board certified in family medicine and osteopathic manipulation in 2005. His first three years in practice were at The Harbin Clinic in Rome, Georgia, a multi-specialty group of about 150 physicians, where he provided primary and urgent care. While there he founded the Harbin Clinic Medical Weight Loss Center and was later named Medical Director of The Vitality Center, the clinic's medical wellness center. In September 2009 he opened The Center for Health and Age Management, an alternative to a typical primary care office, and in summer 2010 he entered a fellowship through the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. During his first year at Harbin he met the requirements for board certification in bariatric medicine and is a Diplomate of The American Board of Bariatric Medicine. The site states that he is one of only 400 board certified bariatric physicians in the United States. He tailors weight loss programs to each patient and has lectured at regional meetings on exercise prescription for weight loss. He has a particular interest and training in regenerative injection techniques, including platelet-rich plasma, stem cells and prolotherapy. His background in sports nutrition, endurance training, and sports injury care and prevention comes from years of training and racing. Each year he completes continuing medical education in the areas of medicine that interest him.
