Dr. Eric R. Nelson

Dr. Eric R. Nelson is a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon. He is a leading expert in oculoplastics, and his peers voted him one of the Best Doctors in America. He earned his M.D. at the University of Iowa College of Medicine and did an internship at the University of Southern California Medical Center Los Angeles County. His ophthalmology residency was at the Jules Stein Eye Institute in California, and he held an oculoplastics fellowship under Henry L. Baylis, M.D., at the University of California, Los Angeles. He also has advanced training in plastic surgery of the face, orbit, eyes, and lacrimal system, and he holds American Board of Ophthalmology certification. He chairs the Self-Assessment Committee of the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and is an associate professor at the University of Minnesota. His memberships include the Minnesota Medical Association, the Minnesota Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
