Youth Braiding Academy opened in 2023 to help young people learn real braiding skills while building confidence and an entrepreneurial mindset. The academy describes itself as a hands-on youth development program that also works on creativity, professionalism, and business thinking. Families come from Jonesboro, Stockbridge, McDonough, Hampton, Morrow, Riverdale, and Fayetteville.

Classes include a four-hour private session for youth and adults, where a student works one-on-one with the instructor and chooses up to three braiding techniques, from beginner to advanced. A Mommy & Me option pairs one adult with one child aged 10 or under, and the adult does not need to be a parent. The six-week program is for students aged 8 to 17 and meets on Saturdays from 9 AM to 12 PM, totaling 18 hours of training. Classes are capped at 10 students, and students can begin any Saturday once enrollment and payment are complete.

Students practice on mannequin heads from the first day. The curriculum covers parting, cornrows, individual braids, extensions, knotless braids, feed-in cornrows, two-strand twists, Senegalese twists, and stitch braids, and it adjusts to each student's level. Students with prior experience can move faster and receive technique adjustments to keep them challenged. Alongside the braiding, students learn customer service, professional behavior, and entrepreneurship concepts.

A visit is simple: parents drop students off and return after class rather than staying in the room. Progress photos and videos are sent to parents throughout the program, and a skill demonstration closes the final week. Students who finish the program receive an official Certificate of Completion. The studio has a private entrance and street parking.

Built around hands-on practice, with students working on mannequin heads from the first session and learning professional habits and entrepreneurship alongside the braiding.
