About
Dionne James founded Youth Braiding Academy, where she leads classes as a Licensed Cosmetology Instructor and holds Master Cosmetologist status. In 1992 she opened Essence of Braiding & Weaving Hair Studio, and she also founded a Virginia State-Approved Cosmetology School. Her career in beauty spans more than three decades, during which she has trained thousands of students. She is the author of two books, The Hustle Is Real and Braids to Bricks. Her teaching is patient and direct, with the goal that each student finishes knowing exactly what they are doing.
