XO Salon is on Mount Washington, near the Grandview Avenue Overlook in Pittsburgh. The salon describes its atmosphere as free-thinking, creative and low-pressure, and says its aim is to go beyond what clients expect so they leave looking and feeling their best. Color is the core of the menu. Options include Express gloss and Express root services, Root Retouch, All Over Color, Mini Blonding and Custom Blonding, Custom Color, Platinum Retouch, and full Blonde and Platinum Transformations. Extension and creative color services are also offered, and those require a consultation before booking. Listed prices start from $85 up to $500, are subject to change, and do not include gratuity.

A few policies apply when booking. Color applied with a box, or a move from a dark shade to a much lighter one, may need more than one appointment. Payments for services cannot be refunded. However, a complimentary corrective service is offered when a result traces back to an error by the provider, as long as the salon is contacted within 48 hours. Corrections are not offered more than 5 days after the original visit, and management makes the final call on any disagreement about whether a redo is owed. Monthly specials have to be redeemed during the month they are offered, with one special allowed per appointment. Retail products can be brought back within 7 days for in-salon credit. Clients who feel unwell are asked to reschedule. Opening hours are Monday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The salon is closed on Sundays.
