Wisp Organic Salon is a holistic salon in South Austin, located in Building 3 of Settler South Congress, a mixed-use townhouse community. The salon works with fine or thin textures, women's hair loss and scalp conditions, and hair affected by chronic illness. It was founded by Sarah Bandy after about ten years working in a traditional salon.

Its philosophy centers on non-toxic hair care, hypoallergenic color and holistic scalp therapy. The color lines are described as working like traditional hair color while leaving out harmful chemicals and common irritants, and the salon uses O&M CØR.color, which is free of ammonia, PPD and resorcinol. Products sold include Oway, Hairstory New Wash, Nutrafol and CULT+KING. The salon describes CULT+KING as the cleanest products on the market, a claim it makes about its own selection.

Scalp and hair loss work begins with a consultation and scalp analysis, which is required before booking hair loss or scalp treatments. The 40-minute analysis at $97 uses a microscope to examine the scalp. Options include biodynamic scalp treatments, custom blended for dandruff, excess sebum and sensitivity, and a 60-minute botanical hair loss treatment, many of which are also sold in multi-session packages. The salon states that results cannot be guaranteed and depend on the cause and severity of the condition.

Color, cuts and rebuilding treatments round out the menu. Rebuilding treatments use infrared technology for extremely damaged hair, and the salon says an average of three to six sessions plus home care products are needed for full results. Listed prices are starting points based on the standard amount of product and change if more color or treatment is needed. The best color results come on clean, dry hair without heavy products or powdered root cover-up.

The salon works holistically, pairing non-toxic hair care and hypoallergenic color with scalp therapy that starts with a consultation and analysis. Products are chosen with lower-toxin ingredients in mind.
