WildFlower Color Bar

The salon opened in Andover in 2022 as Patrick James Studio 17 and was later renamed WildFlower Color Bar. It is designed like an indoor garden retreat, where sound, light and ritual are treated as part of the visit.

The salon looks at the whole person rather than hair alone, considering diet, medications, sleep, stress, lifestyle and environment. Clients who have had difficult past salon experiences are supported with a trauma-informed approach. Consultations are free and can be held in person, by phone or by text. The in-person hair assessment covers hair history, the result a client wants, lifestyle, upkeep and timing. Clients receive a text from their stylist once a visit is booked and complete intake and waiver paperwork beforehand. First-time clients come in with unwashed hair, and the first appointment includes a deep clarifying treatment and a deep conditioning treatment.

Services are priced by the hour and tailored to each client's goals. A 30-minute session at $60 covers quick upkeep such as a fade or clipper cut, a root touch-up, a wash and blowdry, or finishing. A 60-minute session at $150 includes a haircut with styling and blowdry, and a 90-minute session at $200 combines a root refresh with a haircut. Longer sessions are $275 for two hours, $400 for three hours and $550 for four hours, depending on whether the visit is one main service, several steps of color or blonding, or multiple services. Global lightening is offered when keeping the hair's integrity is the priority. The Bridal Package starts at $150 and is curated to each client's needs. Wedding and occasion bookings begin with a form covering the event date, number of guests, services, finish time and location, and can be reserved by time rather than per person. Packages can include hair, makeup, on-site styling, a guided meditation of about 10 to 15 minutes before the day, touch-ups during the ceremony and portraits, veil placement and removal, and a second look for the reception.

The salon lists fair wages, LGBTQIA+ inclusion, consent-led practice and transparent pricing among its standards. Products are chosen against those standards and are described as vegan, cruelty-free and low-tox, with SLS-free, paraben-free, paraffin-free, phthalate-free, formaldehyde-free and gluten-free formulas. Cancellations need at least 48 hours' notice; later cancellations are charged 50% of the booked service, and no-call, no-shows on the day are charged in full, with fees waived for medical emergencies, car accidents and acts of nature. In-salon hair services are not refunded. If a stylist is late in a way that affects a client's day, the salon may comp the service, offer complimentary product or upgrade the experience. The salon does not accept tips and has no tip prompt at checkout. Home-care products can be exchanged after two uses at home if a client does not like them.

The salon takes a holistic, trauma-informed approach that considers lifestyle, environment, diet and routine alongside the hair.
