About

Wild Indie Hair Lounge sits in Wheat Ridge, minutes from Denver. The salon describes itself as more than a salon and as a space for transformation. Its story is tied to the Natural Beaded Rows (NBR) extension method, which it began using in 2018, and the salon says that method is why it became focused on extensions in the Denver area.

Visits begin with a no-obligation application. The salon then contacts the client to set up a consultation, which can be by phone, FaceTime, Zoom or in person, and the booking is confirmed after that. New clients are asked to start this way. When applying, clients can request a specific stylist or take the first available one.

A first-time extension install is a full appointment. It starts with custom color for natural and extension hair, deep conditioning, a blowout and light trim as prep, then the extension installation, a blend haircut and a finished style, with after photos. The LUXE Care Kit, with full-size shampoo and conditioner, leave-in product, a pro brush and tutorials, comes with it. Extensions need tightening every six to eight weeks. Maintenance covers removal, deep conditioning, a trim, beadwork, re-installation and styling, and adding color is optional. Swimming is allowed with NBR extensions; the salon suggests wearing hair in a loose braid or ponytail, brushing with a wet brush before and after, and using a leave-in conditioner afterward.

Extension packages are Essentials, Signature, Luxe and Legacy. Essentials starts at $1,350 plus session for first-time installs. Signature starts at $1,500 plus session for 1 to 3 rows of 18 to 20 inch extensions, Luxe starts at $2,050 plus session for 22 to 24 inch, and Legacy starts at $4,400 plus session for 26 inch. Move-ups are offered with or without color, from $224 for one row with no color. The salon notes that prices are subject to change.

Color is organized into Apprentice, Color and Elite packages. According to the salon, each includes a consultation, custom color blending, application and deep conditioning. Lighter services include a 1.5-hour semi-permanent gloss with a haircut, and a 2.5-hour mini blonding session of face-framing highlights or a sun-kissed surface effect. Longer sessions include a 2.5-hour single-base root touch-up with gloss through the ends, a 3-hour maintenance refresh for color done within six to eight weeks, and two 4-hour sessions, Full Dimension (custom multi-dimensional color with full coverage) and Ultimate Blonding (a full highlight session). Most sessions include tonal glossing, deep conditioning, a cut or trim, and a blow dry and style.

The salon's own extension line, Wild Indie Hair Extensions, is built on Genius Wefts, and the salon says its extensions are hand-selected for quality and longevity. Redken All Soft is one of its go-to products for extensions, and the salon sells R+CO, which is vegan, free of parabens, sulfates, petrolatum and mineral oil, and Leaping Bunny certified. The salon also offers 1:1 mentorship for salon owners, including an eight-week Revive + Thrive workshop, and is looking for hair artists certified in Natural Beaded Rows to join the team.

Focused on each client's confidence, lifestyle and the feeling they want when they leave, and describes its values as artistry, empowerment and growth.
