Every sisterlocks installation starts with a mandatory consultation of about an hour and a half, which includes test locks. The consultation is $75 and that amount is credited toward the install, which must be booked within 14 days of the consultation. Before the visit, hair should be cleansed, detangled and air-dried, with no conditioner, oils or other products used in the 24 hours beforehand.
Care continues after the install. Clients receive a retightening schedule, a home-care routine and access to their loctician between visits. Retightening appointments can include shampooing, steam conditioning and styling, and clients should shampoo within 24 hours of a retightening visit.
Pricing for shampoo, styling and retightening is set by base time, with an added charge for each extra hour. New transfer clients pay a one-time $50 fee on retightening services.
The studio sets each client's parting pattern before any loc is installed and sizes locs to that client's hair density and texture instead of using one template. It describes its locs as built to be worn for a lifetime.
Appointments take place one-on-one in a private studio.
