The stylists focus on balayage, color and precision haircutting, and work with hair of all types and textures. Before a color service, stylists hold a consultation to recommend an option based on the client's hair, the result they want and their individual circumstances. Services include foil highlights, coloring and glossing, Brazilian blowouts and keratin treatments. Wedding and special event services are also available.
The salon uses Goldwell color systems, including Demi-Permanent Color, which is ammonia-free and suited to gray blending and coverage, and Elumen, an ammonia-free, peroxide-free system with no oxidation and transparent gray blending. Glaze & Gloss is an ammonia-free finishing service for shine and tone. The salon also works with Kérastase and Oribe, and sells products through a store section on its website.
Brows and make-up are offered alongside hair, including eyebrow tweezing and make-up application. Gift certificates can be bought for a single service or a custom mix of services.
Appointments can be made online at vaianiclarke.com or by calling 617-795-1550. The salon asks for 24 to 48 hours' notice for changes or cancellations, and a late-cancellation fee may apply. Younger guests are admitted only when they have a booked appointment.
