The Texture Loft was started by two stylists, Moe Jackson and Zoe Coleman, who co-own the salon and work there as educators and cosmetologists. The salon describes itself as rooted in education, expertise and an appreciation for all hair textures.

The salon's aim is to teach clients how to care for and maintain their natural hair. Each appointment includes help choosing products and building a routine to follow at home, so a visit is as much about understanding your hair as about getting it styled.

Services cover natural styling, braids and protective styles, loc maintenance and styling, haircuts and trims, silk press, and extensions such as sew-ins, crochet and individual additions. Every service includes a wash and conditioning treatment. For braids and weaves, clients bring their own hair, and no hair is supplied for extension work. Detangling must be completed before an appointment, and more than 30 minutes of detangling carries an extra charge.

Booking is done through StyleSeat, and no deposit is required. First-time guests may be asked for card details, but nothing is charged until the service is performed. Cancelling at least 24 hours ahead carries no charge; cancelling with less notice costs 25% of the service price, and a no-show is charged 50%. The salon does not offer mobile services or services for children under 12.

Beyond client work, the salon runs a community for stylists focused on career development and artistry.

Teaching comes before styling: each visit covers which products suit a client's hair and how to keep up care at home.
