The Paint Box

The Paint Box is a neighborhood salon in the heart of Brooklyn. Color is its main focus, and the menu also covers haircuts, styling, braids, and Gua Sha head treatments with scalp massage.

The interior has pastel decor, marble and brass accents, and plants throughout. Clients book online through the salon's Booker page, and returning clients need to set up their login again. Tips can be paid in cash or by Venmo. Hours are Tuesday to Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday 10am to 6pm, with the salon closed on Sunday and Monday.

Kera-tip extensions are offered, but a consultation comes first. Gua Sha head treatments are available with or without a blow out. The version with a blow out runs 1 hour 15 minutes for $135 and includes a shampoo with scalp massage and lymphatic drainage around the face, neck, head and shoulders. The version without a blow out runs 1 hour for $85, and a blow dry can be added for $50.

The salon states it is a Green Circle Salon. Waste is separated for recycling: excess color is filtered out of water, hair clippings are turned into hair bombs for oil spill cleanup, and foils are recycled.

Color is tailored to each client's skin tone, and the salon builds its own team of stylists.
