The Hive was founded by owner Vanessa Nguyen, a master stylist and makeup artist. The salon's concept is drawn from how bees work, with team members in different roles working together toward one shared goal. The community it serves is treated as central to its purpose.

The team is described as welcoming, supportive of one another and creative. Stylists receive ongoing hands-on education, and the salon's stated aim is a good environment for staff as well as for clients to feel beautiful, accepted and cared for.

The menu covers foil and balayage color, root touch-ups, toners and color correction, which starts at $300 plus $100 per hour after the first three hours. Other services include women's, men's and kids' cuts, a men's experience package, blowouts and formal up-styles, makeup, hair treatments, tape-in and beaded sew-in extensions, facial waxing, dermaplaning, lash extensions and lifts, and cupping therapy. All prices are starting estimates that can vary by stylist. Extensions require a $25 consultation before any application, and extension hair is priced separately.

The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturday from 9am to 2pm. Monday is by appointment only, and the salon is closed on Sunday. It sits on the corner of W. 2nd and Elm, and can be reached at 636-900-9074.
