The Green Room

The Green Room is a locally owned and operated building of 16 salon studios at 1607 Highpoint Ave in Scott's Addition. There are 10 single studios and 6 double studios, in about 4,900 square feet of salon space. Each studio is run independently, so clients book with the individual stylists who work in them.

The building covers the practical needs of working stylists. Access is secured 24 hours a day, and water, sewer, trash, recycling, electricity and the security system are all included in the rent. Free secured WiFi is available for stylists and guests, along with free laundry, a gourmet coffee bar and an on-site liaison. Studios use Minerva styling chairs and wash stations and upgraded Ecoheads showerheads, and every studio has large windows or skylights. A fresh air return system runs through the whole building.

Sustainability is central to how the building operates. The Green Room is an official Green Circle sustainable salon. According to the business, Green Circle has reused, repurposed or recycled over 9,400,000 lbs of salon materials since 2009. The business also states that salons send an average of 877 lbs of waste to landfills every 60 seconds. Stylists who rent a studio can get virtual business cards and marketing help, and the business offers one week of free rent on a one-year lease.
