The Glam Doctor

The Glam Doctor is a makeup and beauty team based in Detroit, with its studio in Southfield at 21751 W 11 Mile Road, Suite 105, one block south of Lasher beside the CVS Plaza. Founder Rashida LaShawn leads the team. According to the business, it was voted Michigan's top makeup artist home services and bridal provider.

Bridal is a core service. The team covers hair, makeup and skin for weddings of any size, and its bridal crew includes makeup artists, hairstylists, barbers, male groomers and skincare specialists. A stylist can stay with the bride for up to eight hours, and bridal clients can have music, refreshments and calming scents during their hair and makeup. Every bridal booking starts with a complimentary 30-minute consultation by phone or video. Packages and pricing are listed in a downloadable brochure, and a booking is confirmed once a digitally signed contract and retainer payment are received.

On-demand appointments cover events, occasions and red carpet looks, at the studio or at the client's location. Makeup for photo and video shoots and productions is quoted individually, and quote requests receive a response within one to two business days.

The Beauty Institute teaches makeup in three lesson packages: Releasing Your Inner Glam, Stunning Eyes Makeup Lesson, and The Foundations of GLAM. Lessons run one on one or in small groups, at the studio or another location the client picks. The lesson team is described as licensed cosmetologists and estheticians. The program is designed for everyday women, makeup artists and beauty enthusiasts, and it puts weight on open dialogue, feedback and learning.

Group workshops include Sensationally Seasoned Brow Glam and Brow Bar, and Princesses of Glam, a class for teen girls aged 16 to 19. Each workshop participant receives a goody glam bag and light refreshments. Through The Glam Doctor Gives Back, the business runs after-school and summer enrichment programs for girls aged 8 to 18, and donors can sponsor a G.L.A.M. Girl.
