Before moving into permanent makeup she spent about five years working as a makeup artist. The studio says its goal is for clients to leave feeling beautiful and confident, and it describes its staff as highly trained.

Brow appointments begin with a consultation. The artist shapes the brow in pencil with the client, taking into account facial structure, existing brow hair and makeup preference, and both parties must agree on the shape. The outline is tattooed first, then topical numbing is applied and the shading is completed. Ombre powder sessions take roughly 2.5 to 3.5 hours including consultation, shaping and shading, and nano and ombre brow appointments are listed as about three hours or more.

Brow work is done in two stages: an initial session and a first touch up six to 12 weeks later, followed by a touch up every 12 months. Services are priced from $150 for a 4-6 week touch up and $250 for a yearly color boost, up to $650 for correcting or covering brows that had work by another artist. Lip blush is $450 on its own, and it can be added to a brow appointment for $350 with a $100 bundle discount.

Hygiene practices include new single-use sterile needles, and non-disposable equipment is covered in single-use barrier film and sanitized after each service.

Booking requires a $50 deposit that is applied to the total. Appointments must be rescheduled or canceled with 48 hours notice, and deposits are non-refundable after booking. One reschedule allows the deposit to move to a new date. The studio does not guarantee healed results, which depend on factors such as skin type, aftercare and healing.

Before a brow or lip appointment, the studio asks clients to avoid Botox in the forehead and brow area for four weeks, avoid facials including microdermabrasion and chemical peels for two weeks, and avoid caffeine, alcohol and blood thinners for at least 24 hours. Afterward, brows should be kept dry and clean, with no sweating, swimming or saunas for seven days.

Ella Academy offers beginner and advanced in-person courses, ranging from a 2-day lip blush program to a 5-day course covering all brow and lip techniques. Course tuition runs from $2,500 to $5,500 with a class deposit of $350 or $500 depending on the program. Training includes a kit and a first model, and private one-on-one sessions can be booked by email or text.

Each brow appointment starts with a consultation so the shape is agreed on by client and artist before any work begins.
