The Cut Stop opened in Dedham Square in 2001 when owner Marykate Petrie launched the business after more than a decade working in the hair industry. It has operated for about two decades and remains family-run, with Marykate's daughter, Megan Petrie, now part of the team.

About

Visits are by appointment only, booked by phone at 781-461-8885. Hours are Tuesday and Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Wednesday and Thursday 8:30 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM. Every service includes a shampoo, and color services include a blowdry. Corrective color is priced after a consultation, so clients with a color problem should expect to talk it through first.

The menu covers cuts, blowdries and styled finishes, light formal hair for occasions, all-over and foil color, floating foils, balayage, fashion color, and perms. Add-ons such as an Olaplex treatment, a Redken glaze, a deep conditioning treatment, a toner refresh, and curling or straightening iron styling can be added to a visit. Prices are listed as starting points, such as color from $73, light formal hair from $65 and specialized perms from $125.
