Locs are a specialty, and natural and chemical-free options are available for clients who prefer them. Stylists are either licensed professionals or trained personally by Starr Bailey, and team members commit to ongoing education to stay current with new techniques.

The space is cozy and welcoming, with plenty of parking and wheelchair accessibility. Coffee, tea, mimosas or water are offered during appointments. The salon also sells hair oils and shea butters that Starr Bailey makes by hand, along with products from Ghana such as waist beads and black soap, and a hand-woven copper bracelet set with Senegalese cowrie seashells priced at $80.

Clients are asked to arrive on time; if running late, call ahead for a 15-minute grace period, after which service may be refused. Cancellations and reschedules should be requested by phone at least 24 hours in advance. A $35 no-show fee is charged, payable at the next visit, and service may be refused after more than two no-shows.
