Color is the core of the work, from lived-in color and gray coverage to blonding and personalized shades, and the salon also offers haircuts, blowouts, and conditioning or gloss services. Clients come from Newton, Boston, Needham, Brookline, and nearby towns.

Booking is done online because the salon has no front desk or receptionist. Pricing is hourly and depends on the rate each stylist sets, with no add-on charges and no tipping. One-hour appointments cost $150 with Helen Han, $225 with Jett, and $250 with Meghan Moran; two-hour appointments run $300, $450, and $500 with the same stylists, three-hour appointments $450, $675, and $750, and four-hour appointments $600, $900, and $1,000. A credit card must be on file to reserve, and it is the only payment accepted. Cancellations within 48 hours are charged half the service cost, no-shows are charged in full, and reserved time is billed in full even if the service runs shorter. Illness cancellations still fall under these charges.

Every appointment is one-on-one, with no double booking, and includes a blowout. Visits also include a scalp massage, a hot towel infused with essential oils, and a complimentary beverage. Color appointments include gloss, glaze, and treatment in the price. Clients who want quiet can ask at the start of the service for no conversation, and Reiki and oracle cards are available for extra relaxation. Guests of any kind, including children, are not permitted, and arriving with a child means the service is declined and a fee applies. Services are non-refundable, but a stylist's mistake can be corrected at no charge if the salon is contacted within five days, and that correction must be booked with the original stylist.

Stylists are W-2 employees who set their own hourly rates and schedules and take unlimited time off. The salon follows what it calls the New Commission Model, with commission starting at 46 percent and no retail sales requirement. Sunny Bunny works on a one-on-one, unhurried basis with stylists who set their own rates, keep their own schedules, and do not accept tips.
