Kristy Kladzyk is the master stylist and owner. The team includes curl specialists and colorists, and the salon says every stylist has been specially trained in cutting curly hair, with levels that reflect each person's education. Clients book online and can choose the service, date, time and a specific stylist.

A curly cut here starts with a consultation of 30 to 45 minutes, which looks at hair condition, texture and scalp health. The cut is done on dry hair so the natural pattern shows, followed by a wash and conditioning, a step-by-step styling lesson and a refined cut if needed. Clients leave with a take-home care plan. The consultation costs $50 and is prepaid. Clients are asked to arrive with hair washed, fully dry, detangled and free of product except a light leave-in conditioner, and to avoid products with shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil or olive oil beforehand.

The salon uses moisture-rich, sulfate-free products made for curly, coily and textured hair, and says its products are free of harmful chemicals, cruelty-free and ethically sourced. Its Curly Corner services use only clean beauty products. Innersense products can be ordered online. Through Green Circle Salons, the salon says it diverts 85 to 95 percent of its waste, including foils, color tubes, hair, plastic bottles and hair coloring chemicals.

The salon's stated philosophy is to promote client health, well-being and appearance without harming the environment, and to leave the planet better than it was found. Curly cuts are tailored to each client's curl pattern after a consultation, and are cut dry so the natural shape can be seen.
