Stellar Luna Hair Studio is an independently run studio in San Mateo, not part of a chain. The team is led by its owner and color specialist, Kiera, and includes three stylists who each bring their own focus, from precision cutting to textured hair and color.
Services fall into two groups. Haircuts, styling and treatments cover haircuts, a haircut with treatment, blow outs, shampoo and style, and a specialty treatment that can be added to any of these. The specialty color menu covers all-over color, balayage and specialty blonding, color melt, custom highlights, gloss or toner, reverse balayage and specialized creative color.
New color clients start with a consultation before they can book a color appointment, so the stylist can plan the work with them first. The studio runs by appointment only, and cancellations or no-shows made within 24 hours of the appointment are charged a 50% fee.
The studio works with each client's natural look and aims for results that are soft, wearable and suited to the person.
