Sophia's is run by Sophia, who has served Contra Costa County for 25 years and has also worked with clients across California for 9 years. The studio is open Monday to Wednesday from 9am to 7pm, with selected Saturday appointments available.

Color ranges from natural shades, including reds, to fun, funky looks. Blonde options run from sun-kissed highlights to a bombshell blonde, and the color menu also includes ombre, shadow root, color melt and balayage, or combinations of these. Extensions are a specialty, offered with U-tip and tape-in methods after a consultation.

Consultations are free, and Sophia helps clients who have a look in mind but are unsure how to get there by working out a plan together. Free bang trims are offered between appointments, and gift cards can be bought for yourself or sent to someone else.

The studio also gives back. Clients who donate their hair to a good cause receive a free haircut, and cancer patients who are losing their hair are offered a free service. Donations of new or used food, clothing and blankets are accepted, though not money, and the studio works with others on community projects and serves the homeless year-round.
