Sola Salons rents private salon suites to independent professionals rather than providing services itself. Renters include barbers, estheticians, hairstylists, lash technicians, makeup artists, massage therapists, nail technicians, tattoo artists and waxers, along with brow technicians, hair extension specialists, laser hair removal providers, medical spa professionals and permanent makeup artists. The company says more than 20,000 salon professionals work in its suites.

Each suite has a private glass door with an individual lock and key, and every renter has a key to their own space. Suites include full-spectrum lighting, 24/7 security, utilities, a shampoo bowl and a styling chair. Renters can decorate with their own artwork, music, furniture and decor, and they set their own work hours within the access hours for their location.

Renters pay one weekly fee that covers utilities and Wi-Fi. The company says a suite can cost about the same as renting a chair or booth in a traditional salon. Renters set their own service and product prices, choose their own brands and products, and keep the profits from both. Each location is independently owned and operated, so details such as access hours can vary by site.
