Soderma Dermatology was founded by Dr. Cylburn E. Soden, Sr., who opened his dermatology practice in Baltimore, Maryland in 1984. The practice later moved to Silver Spring and then to its current location in Laurel. It treats patients from infants to older adults and all skin types, and offers general dermatologic and cosmetic services suitable for men as well as women.
The medical and surgical services here address a broad set of conditions, among them acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, vitiligo, alopecia, warts, cysts and skin concerns in children. Mohs micrographic surgery takes place in the office: removed tissue is checked under a microscope on site, every surgical margin is assessed, and the repair is typically completed the same day. Patients who cannot have surgery may be offered SRT-100 superficial radiation therapy for non-melanoma skin cancer. Biologic medications are also used for long-term conditions including psoriasis, eczema and hidradenitis. On the cosmetic side, the practice provides Botox Cosmetic and Xeomin, several Juvederm products and other dermal fillers, Kybella for fat under the chin, and SculpSure, a non-invasive option for reducing fat. Laser treatments cover hair removal, long-pulsed ND:YAG treatment for small facial blood vessels, eMatrix fractional radiofrequency resurfacing, and the Pharos excimer laser for chronic skin conditions. Chemical peels, including full and mini versions of the Melanage peel, are used for dark spots and uneven tone. Medical aesthetician Kinosha Soden provides microdermabrasion, peels, facials, Dermalinfusion and other skin care treatments. Filler patients usually attend a consultation first, though that can occasionally happen on the same day as their initial treatment. Payment can be made through most major medical insurance plans, or by cash, check or credit card. CareCredit financing is available, with no-interest options for qualifying amounts. The practice notes that most insurance plans do not pay for elective cosmetic procedures.
Combines medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology in one practice, serving all ages and skin types.
