Sixpence Salon and Spa takes its name from the bridal tradition rhyme and the sixpence coin that appears in its logo. The salon was founded by Emily Pence, who opened it after frequent visits to the Upstate made her want a salon of her own in Greenville.

The hair menu covers cuts for children, men and women, color from remix and gloss to single process color, highlighting and blonding, and specialty techniques such as balayage, ombré, root shadowing and fashion color. Texture services include thermal straightening, express blowouts and permanent waves, and styling includes blowouts, curling or flat ironing, and special occasion styles and updos. Blowouts are included with any color service or cut. All hair services are sold individually, though some include a haircut, and cut prices may vary with the length, weight or texture of the hair and the length of the service. A child's haircut does not include a shampoo and style.

Hair additions include hand-tied extensions, keratin, bonded or I-tip extensions, tape-in extensions, and custom hair pieces and wigs. Hand-tied extensions begin with a consultation, followed by color and length matching and then installation, which the salon says is performed by certified stylists. The salon also offers in-person Bello Haven training and workshops, held at the salon or at a client's salon, covering the hand-tied and no-show methods.

Beyond hair, the salon offers lash extensions, lash lifts and tints, brow waxing, tinting and lamination, gel manicures, pedicures, gel extensions and nail art, and special occasion makeup along with personalized makeup lessons. Massage services include Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, Swedish massage and TMJ release therapy, and skincare services include facials, peels and clinical treatments. Hair and makeup can be provided on location at a client's venue for weddings, events and private gatherings, and bridal hair and makeup is offered with a private space for bridal parties and groups. For wedding-day hair and makeup, the salon allows about 45 minutes to 1.5 hours per person, depending on services.
