Shear Dimensions has operated in Mt. Airy since 2010 and describes itself as one of the town's most trusted salons. Its team is led by co-owners Trish Grimes and Tammy Morris, who work alongside balayage master stylists and other stylists, a lash extension specialist, and a skincare specialist. Hair services cover cuts, all-over color, full or partial highlights, ombre, balayage, color melt, and root retouches, along with smoothing and texture work such as Brazilian Blowout, keratin straightening, Cezanne smoothing, and texture perms. Haircuts begin with a consultation about how the hair fits the client's lifestyle, followed by shampoo, cut, blow dry, and styling. Men's visits include a consultation, shampoo, scalp massage, cut and style, and color or grooming for hair and beards. Facials for all skin types can be customized to a client's needs, and the salon also offers lash extensions, lift and tint, threading for brows, lip, and chin, and full body waxing. Starting prices vary by stylist. A haircut and style starts between $48 and $65, base color between $75 and $85, and balayage between $160 and $200. Brazilian Blowout starts at $300, Cezanne smoothing from $275 to $350 depending on the stylist, standard perms at $135, and Awapuhi treatments at $40. Prices marked with a plus sign are starting prices and can change with extra product or added time. The salon is open Tuesday through Friday from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, and is closed Sunday and Monday. Team members attend hair shows and education classes throughout the year.
