Shag Noir Salon

Shag Noir Salon is at 2511 East 6th Street in Austin. Owner Minnie Little opened it in March 2022. The salon states that its team has an average of 11 years of hair experience.

The salon welcomes clients of all hair textures, lengths, races and genders, and describes itself as a welcoming space for LGBTQ2S+ clients. It calls itself Austin's favorite specialized hair salon and says its stylists are experienced with every curl pattern, with advanced color and cutting as its specialty.

Appointments are by reservation only, and services are priced by the hour. New clients book a consultation before their first visit, either in person or by video chat, and the consultation fee is applied to the total cost of the service. Some services, such as the 4-hour balayage, also need a virtual consultation before each booking. A service that runs about 30 minutes past its scheduled time may incur an additional charge. The salon does not accept tips. Clients are asked to text rather than call, and to include their stylist's name, because the phone line is handled by an AI answering service. Free parking is available in spaces at the front and back of the building.

Some services are not offered here: braiding, wig installation, relaxers and keratin treatments. Dematting starts at 4 hours and is open to clients aged 0 to 99, though the booking page notes that no dematting service is guaranteed to finish in 4 hours. The Wash-N-Go refresh is for returning clients only.
