Sea View Optometry has been in Long Beach since 1996. Loren Rude bought the practice in 2022 with plans to add technology and expanded services. The practice describes itself as a trusted optometry practice and boutique eyewear shop. The office is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The practice describes its eye care as using modern, technology-driven methods to support eye health. Adult exams are offered to new patients, who are asked about their health history, lifestyle and current medications. Patients with diabetes are recommended to have a comprehensive eye exam every year. Eye disease diagnosis and management, digital eye strain care, emergency eye care and laser eye surgery consultations are also available. The practice aims to offer comprehensive, understanding and accepting care to every patient and says it supports the Safe Spaces Alliance, with the goal of being a safe and comfortable place for all patients.

Children's exams include a baseline comprehensive exam between 6 and 12 months of age, in line with American Optometric Association guidance. Children can choose from a selection of frame colors and styles made from durable materials.

Dry eye care is a central focus of the practice. Treatment options include tailored kits that might contain soothing drops, warm compresses for the eyes, lid cleansing wipes and omega-3 capsules. Meibomian gland dysfunction may be addressed through manual gland expression, warmth with massage, or intense pulsed light (IPL) treatments such as OptiLight. OptiLight, made by Lumenis, is a noninvasive light treatment applied beneath the eyes for dry eye. According to the practice, it is the first and only IPL treatment FDA-approved for dry eye management, and more than 20 clinical studies support it. A doctor determines whether OptiLight suits each patient. It is not recommended for people taking certain medications, or for those with active acne, certain skin disorders, a tendency to form keloids, severe scarring, or a recent severe sunburn.

The aesthetics side offers intense pulsed light skin treatment for fine lines, sun damage, age spots, rosacea and acne, with appointments that may take around 30 minutes depending on the area. The practice notes that around 3 to 6 sessions may be needed for the best results and that results vary by person. Upneeq is offered for low-lying eyelids (acquired ptosis), along with vitamin-enriched nutraceuticals for skin. For eyewear, the shop carries frames, lenses and sunglasses from a broad range of brands, can create custom SPEXWAX designs, and offers online contact lens ordering with in-person refills for patients with a current prescription.
